Electrical resistance and dielectric constant studies in a binary liquid system in the critical region
Abstract
This thesis presents an experimental investigation of
electrical resistance and dielectric constant anomalies in a
critical binary liquid system (the polar + non-polar mixture
methanol + cyclohexane). Since the critical exponent values
representing the behaviour of the derivative of the electrical
resistance and the dielectric constant with respect to temperature
(dR/dT) and (dε/dT) are not yet completely understood
for binary liquid systems, the present study is aimed at determining
these exponents. Both electrical resistance and dielectric
constant measurements are made over a wide frequency
range (10 Hz to 100 kHz) to see also whether there is any
frequency dispersion in the critical exponents.
