    Abstract
This thesis describes the wide-line and pulsed NMR instrumentation and investigations in certain hydrazinium double salts. Proton second moment and proton spin-lattice relaxation time as a function of temperature in the range 115-300 K have been measured to understand the nature of molecular motions and phase transitions, if present, in these compounds. The five hydrazinium metal halides taken up for the study are the following: Hydrazinium trichlorozincate N2H^ZnCl2 Hydrazinium tribromozincate N2H^ZnBr2 Hydrazinium triiodozincate N2H^Znl2 Dihydrazinium tetrachlorozincate (N2H^)2ZnCl^ Hydrazinium trichlorostannate N2H^SnCl2 All the above compounds have been synthesised and characterized using room temperature IR / FT IR, X-ray and elemental analysis.
