    Abstract
In this dissertation we consider certain alternative procedures, viz., the g-inverse method as well as an iterative technique based on probabilistic estimation for the reconstruction of objects from their projections. Examples of test pictures reconstructed using the above techniques a]?e provided. A comparative study of these reconstruction techniques with the existing well-known direct and iterative techniques is given 4 in brief. Finally, the similarity "between the image reconstiruction problem and the image restoration problem is established. Image restoration consists in the removal of noise and blur from a degraded transmitted picture. It is shown how the image reconstruction techniques can be extended to the restoration of blurred pictures
